Help: algae bloom I can't control

What is the expiration date on the pH reagent?
What is the reagent number for the pH? R-0004 or R-0014?

How many drops of reagent are you adding?

Test the pH of your tap water and report it here.
Tap water ph 7.2. I attached a picture. I have a fresh tf100 kit. 5 drops of R-0014 is used

Any chance the FC is in-fact wayy higher than we think? That would cause the pH to falsely appear much greater (i.e., redder/purpler) than it really is.

I added 4 tabs to the chlorinator 4 hours ago to help maintain the FC level after I shock. But I don't think they raise the FC level that much. I just added 32 fl oz of mauratic acid

Great - at least we know the reagent and testing procedure is correct.

When you did the TA test - did you continue to add drops until the color didn't change and then subtract the last drop that didn't change the color?
Or did you stop the TA test when the color turned pink?

Seems more acid is needed - maybe more than the 32oz you added 15 minutes ago.
Time - and testing - will tell.

11 drop turned it clear to slightly shade of pink then green, 12 turned it red. I stopped after the 12 drop. So far I have added 138 fl oz since the morning. There is no rish adding that much ma?

Continue adding drops to the TA test until the color doesn't change - it will be at least a deep shade of Barbie pink - subtract the last drop that doesn't change the color.
Chances are your TA is higher than the 140 reported earlier.

If you don't have one, a Speedstir makes the TA and other tests much easier, consistent and repeatable.

Once dissolved this is the effect 4 tabs will have on your water

The problem is you can’t gauge how fast they will dissolve & do these things.
The end result will be that your cya is higher than you think & this will increase your necessary slam fc level
FC/CYA Levels

What is your current fc?

I am low on CYA, and high on PH, I just want them to foot FC once I start slam. They should maintain from 1-3 ppm chlorine. It takes around a week or 10 days to dissolve. I decided to put them as I didn't care about the CYA

Just making sure I am not color blind or anything (see attached). Finally I see some movement on PH. I guess now it is more towards 7.8, right?

I added 32 oz more. Hopefully it will be in 7.5 range soon.

Also I tested total chlorine, and can see the tabs are maintaining 0.5 to 1 PPM which will help once I Start the SLAM. Hopefully tonight

Finally PH 7.5 or below after 170 fl oz of 31.45% ma, I started the slamming and brushed the pool walls, I also running the dolphin.

I added 2 gallons of liquid chlorine and will maintain 11 ppm FC. Any notes or recommendations how to maintain it will be appreciated.

The slamming began. Half of the FC was used in around hour and a half. Measured FC at 6 and CC at 1 or 2 or may be more. Still not sure how to do CC correctly as it keeps turning pink after it clears. Added 1 gallon of liquid chlorine to raise it back to 12

Some of the reagents will do that if allowed to sit still. Just ignore it. Once you get your initial result, discard the solution and move on. Good luck on the SLAM Process.

Most of the FC get used up In 3 hours between tests. And I don't see a change in the pool color. So far I have used 8 gallons of liquid chlorine

You’ve shown pictures of your test kit comparator, how about taking a photo of your pool? Looking at the same area of the pool. In this way you can see the visual change over time. Maybe every other chlorine dosage, take a picture. You don’t have to upload here, unless you want, we love to see swamp to clear. 😄
