Hello All,
I'm a 52yo woodworker living in a small town with my two children and wife, I left my job of 17 years with Dell Inc in Round Rock Texas to teach myself woodworking and move to a small town to raise our children. We purchased a nice 24ft round pool last year and I built a deck for it, I used the e-z pool products as the pool store said they were great and sold them. They did work great our pool sparkled all summer long, I covered it all winter and just pulled the cover off it looked better than I expected but now 3 days later its green, I put all kinds of chems to shock it, and kill the algae but its still green I'm ready to commit to this TFP way of life being its cheaper and safer. Thanks for having me and I look forward to being a member of the forum. I'm guessing I need to get in the pool and give it a good scrubbing next. and lots of readying on using this way of pool care. Need to find a good user friendly water test kit.

Welcome to TFP! Great intro. Wow, quite a career change, but worth it I'm sure. Good for you. Now that you've taken on wood working, we need to get you up to speed on pool care. EASY! Here's how:
- Get a TF-100 test kit (link below). See Test Kits Compared
- Add nothing else to the water except regular bleach. No scented or splashless stuff. Avoid Clorox brands. Add about 1/2 gallon per day for now.
- Start reading the SLAM Process page. That's what you'll do to clear the algae.
- Update your signature. See mine as an example, and include the test kit when you get it.
- Post a full set of results once the kit arrives and we'll walk you though it.

Nice to have you with us.

wow thanks so much, looked at that tf-100 looks complicated lol but I will put in the effort to learn how to use it.

So easy, even a caveman can do it. Wait, that's a car insurance commercial. :) Ha. If I can learn it, you can too. Also, if you can manage to get the magnetic speedsitr, you will thank us later. It makes stirring so much better.
