Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Grey finishes gives a great steel blue water color!

Grey finishes gives a great steel blue water color!

I want a french grey finish myself, husband wants super blue (basically, white plaster with a lot of blue chips). Will be interesting to see how this one debate ends up next spring. I think we both agree on a basic quartz finish instead of a much more expense pebble finish. The $$ may be a regional problem, since Maryland only has one authorized PebbleTec applicator (we've been told). Being married for 25 years (this year!!) has sure taught us much about negotiation. :)

Here ya go..........take a pic of it in different lights--cloudy, sunny, shady. Seeing a pool like that is a wonderful help in picking colors!

Kim

Starting from page 4 on, there are lots of pics in different light. Ignore the one where it looks very white, it snowed.

My pleasure. One caveat, our pool is away from the house so we see the water color much more than the surface color.

Total opposite of hubby and me! We are still refining our negotiation skills and it will be 30 yrs for us in April (I was wed at 5 ;))

Our pool will literally be right out our back door so we won't really get the benefit of the distance view you have- which is gorgeous!

Yeah well,
haha!

thats what ya get for getting gobs of samples!
:stirpot::laughblue:

Thanks for the support, Dave! LOL! Love the laughing, first pounding guy! Cracks me up!
They really were generous with those samples! I had NO IDEA! Eh, at least it's a happy problem!!

I'm so excited for our appointment tomorrow but really trying not to get my hopes too high. So far, my imagined design has not been close to the renderings and I have a terrible poker face. I'm a terrible liar. In fact, as kids, if my older sister and I would be about to get into trouble for something, she would tell me not to talk because I would just get us in more trouble. 4pm CST is our appointment. We'll see how close he is to our increase budget... I just hope it's pretty and we don't have to downgrade a bunch to get it in budget.
I'll post pics if we get some. Otherwise the catalogue and sample pics are on the agenda for tomorrow!

Good thing you posted the time..............I was on my way over here to tell you it is TOMORROW! LOL

No poker face and wear my heart of my sleeve here as well. There is NO question how I am feeling about something or what I am about to do about it be it.

Take a pad of paper and write notes. Think with your head but buy with your heart!

Hugs! I wish we could all be there!

Kim

Just finished our meeting. He hadn't done very many of the changes I had sent (I sent a drawing of what I wanted) so he had to make the changes while we were there.
I showed him pictures of Suz's pool with the low steps and Helen's steps off the tanning ledge, he's against us doing a DE filter (too much maintenance), he'll run conduit for additional future electrical on the far side of the pool and hook it to the auxiliary slots in the automation system for no charge. We should have the new finished bid with the bigger price tag by this weekend. Of course, he is willing to give us what we want, these were just his opinions.

Still haven't had time to get those additional pictures. Gloomy day and busy with house stuff.
I'm also working my way through Suz's pool build-all 74 pages and learning tons!

nini that IS a classic thread for sure! What fun we had! LOL Have you read sunbaby (wendy) thread? It is a fun thread also!

How did you fill about his first set up? Did you get a good feel from him? Did he talk plain English and really seem to listen to you?

I Posted that time JUST FOR YOU, Kim!
Yes, wish you all could have gone with me and hubby.
I'm using my head to be practical and not over spend...my heart wants PRETTY! It's a delicate balance:crazy:

Wear a Halloween mask, then they can't see your reaction. :)
Good suggestion but I was happy with everything we talked about, so no mask necessary!

Can you take some pictures of what you like with you?

Sure did!! Your steps!!

So glad you are reading Suz's thread! It sure is a classic with a wealth of info in it, not all pool related either! And as Kim said Wendy's is also a great thread. In my hunt for PBs their PBs were some of the first I contacted, but alas they did not build in my area. They both have fabulous pools.

Sounds like you had a good meeting with your PB. Hopefully you'll be within budget.

Sunbaby's (Wendy) thread was the first one I read through. I started reading Suz's but ended up going for a bunch of the shorter ones. I'm in love with Suz's pool! Although I have to go with the geometric shape, I'm going to try to copy her colors. Probably not the travertine, though, but the color and tiles.

We really like him! We feel like we would have chosen him over PB 2 who has so far blown us off. We trust him and feel like he will handle our build like its his own. He started from the bottom with this company and has done everything from being a gopher, to working on the crew, doing the plumbing, etc. Now he designs and also doubles as the Construction Supervisor. I like that. Since he is the designer, he'll be all over making sure the plan is followed when he comes to supervise.
He is actually married to a nurse I work with, so there's that connection, too. It's not the reason we chose him, just the reason we called him for a bid.

Im eager for him to finish the rework and find out how much it's gonna cost.

Yes! I'm enjoying it immensely and a bit sad I can't chime in when she was asking for opinions! I'm about 1/2 way done.
Wendy's was a great thread too!

We did have a good meeting and yes, hopefully we will be close to budget and not have to remove too many line items!

Don't forget that you can ask him if this ___ can be found or done for a little less as you REALLY want it but it puts your over budget. Or ask him is there anything in here we could do without or less of so you can keep __.

Make a list---------------must have, need to have, want to have.

Kim (LOL at posting the time just for me! LOVE it!)
