Do you have an external heater bypass?
Usually if you have an internal or external problem causing flow issues in the manifold, the hls light will pop up on the back of the board right before it shuts down. It doesn’t mean the hls is bad, it’s just doing it’s job. But if the heater is still under warranty I would just place a warranty claim unless you are in a rush.

Also, I do think I have a valid warranty claim so I’ll go that route. My pool is just over a year old, I just don’t mind fixing things as a learning experience. However, it’s easy to be patient as my heater does work, it’s just not perfect after 90. If I had to fix immediately I would give the thermocoupler a shot as that’s easy and cheap. I did learn a good amount about my heater here and hopefully when they repair it I can learn more.
If it’s not under warranty I will replace the thermocoupler and then go from there.
