Sorry, this might go long...
Need some help with my new Ruud (Raypak) heat pump, hoping there are some of you that have the same 6550 series Crosswind V. We bought from Recreational Warehouse (Model number delivered was 6550IT-E) and sold as a 118k unit. It was installed a few days before Thanksgiving and initially we had great results with bringing the pool up to a ridiculous 88 degrees pretty quick. Had some cold weather, and over time, and based on a LOT of spreadsheet math, I started to question what was going on with pool temps, and demand on the heat pump over the last few days. And not to mention, coincidence or not, it all started after an OTA update for the heat pump...
I completely understand that air temp, humidity, and return temps all come in to play, along with covering the pool. But I need to figure out answers to some questions.
This is what I know:
My pool pump draws 1000 watts (Sense tells me so)
I have between 8 and 10 degrees increase between input and output temps on average
If I believe the Raymote Dashboard Website the "estimated" GPM is an average of 18GPM
The Raymote Dashboard reports my "Unit Size" as 90k ???
Without really knowing what the GPM is, I am led to believe based on what my heat pump "estimates", I am not turning over my pool in the 8 hours I am running the pump. If I could get 50 GPM or so through the heat pump that would turn over the pool almost twice.
So here is what I propose I need to do, suggestions are greatly encouraged!
Solar cover for the pool (finally cut to fit tonight so that's done)
New pool VSF pump, thinking IntellifloXF or similar so I can increase the GPM, "know" what the flow rate is, have control of the rate, and a potential reduction in energy cost
Integration and simplicity of same is very important for a new pump, so suggest away. And, forgive the pics... still a work in progress so a lot to tidy up. Just wanted to add them to give an idea of the plumbing I am working with.
Thanks!
Ed
