Lately we've been seeing a lot of Hayward sand filters failing at the same. I'm curious if board members have had better luck with other brands of sand filters or if this is across the board.

Cheap thermoplastic molded junk.

Thanks for the feedback. It's hard to believe but I would say 95% of the filters we see here in our service area are all Hayward with top mount multi-ports. The old GM series from 20 years ago used to last a good long time. But lately we're seeing filters fail within 3 years and lots of them. We even had three multi ports brand new leaking from the stem or the gaskets weren't sealing and water was going out the backwash and literally these were brand new filters we installed in the spring. Will definitely check out Pentair products. We like their salt systems and installed many of them. But for some reason the supply house is we deal with don't seem to stock Pentair sand filters.
