I would like to connect unions to my pump to hard pipe the plumbing. Kind of confused on what kind and size of union to get to accomplish this.

The size of the union is dependent on the size of the pipe you plan on using.

I would be using 1.5 inch pipe. Also since I’m going to putting unions in can I replace the flex pipe between the pump and filter with hard piping. Or does it have to remain the flex?

I used 2 of these Hayward unions worked great! I have the same pump.
