Hey everyone, on my intellicenter app I see the pump gpm has a range of 0-140 gpm. I run my 24 hours at 40gpm which has been more than enough. I throw it up to 60 to skim during pollen season. My question is does anyone run that high 140gpm? Can the plumbing even handle that? I was just curious. Thanks!

A pump's performance is somewhat limited by the plumbing it is attached to so more than likely your plumbing would not allow the pump to achieve 140 GPM. 140 GPM is just the run out or the maximum the pump could produce IF it was put on a very low head loss plumbing system. But for most residential pool plumbing systems and assuming you have an Intelliflo, about the most you could hope for is about 100 GPM.

But have you tried lower GPM? How many skimmers do you have? Most skimmers require only about 25 GPM. Do you have a main drain as well?

In theory my pump is also capable of pumping up to 140gpm. In reality the best it can do is 86gpm (according to the pump/intellicenter). With solar heat turned on about the best I can achieve is 52gpm.

Have you considered lowering your 24hr flow rate? 40gpm is probably not needed.

lower it to where your skimmers stop working and then bump up the speed a bit. pinch back the main drain to half open. any faster is not needed. Just got to make sure your equipment is working properly.
skimmers, swg, heater.

I would almost completely close off the main drain with just a tiny opening. It really isn't needed. That way you can lower the RPM of the pump even further and the two remaining skimmers can get nearly all the flow.

I have two skimmers and a MD and this is exactly what I have done. Currently, I run the pump at about 30 GPM and that is sufficient for the two skimmers.
