Glacier Cooler with salt system - Correct way to plumb

New pool just built. Want to know if the water should go through the salt generator and in-line chlorinator before going to Glacier Cooler? Worried about wear and tear on cooler parts.

Originally the pool builder had plumbed it so when you turned the valve to send water to the cooler it never went through the salt generator and in-lIne chlorinator. Definitely didn’t think that was right water would be returned to the pool without being treated.

They replumbed it now so that the return water goes through filter then heater with bypass then salt generator and in-line chlorinator to a two way valve - one setting to return water to pool and the other setting to send water to cooler then return to pool. Anyone know if this is right?

Chlorinator should always be the last item before the pool. For the sake of your equipment, if you are talking about an inline tablet feeder, a.) with a SWG you don't need it, b.) it should never have tablets in it, and c.) it should be removed so that it will never be used.

We got the in-line chlorinator for when temperatures drop below 60 degrees. Salt generator does not work when temperatures fall too low. That’s the only time we will put chlorine tabs in the chlorinator.

Also after my husband and I reviewed the Glacier Cooler installation guide we’ve figured out what needs to be done to set up everything correctly. Now we just have to tell our pool builder they need to re-plumb everything. And yes this new arrangement has the return water going through the salt cell and chlorinator last.
