Give it to me straight, Doc - MasterTemp 200

I have an older MasterTemp 200 that had a SFS error and a “service heater” light. I replaced the stack flue sensor, HLS, thermal regulator, and manifold bypass. After turning it back on, and scaring a snake out from on top of the heat exchanger, the stack temp has been running around 450 for the last 30 minutes. The heat exchanger ports were pretty corroded (see pic).

Is there anything else I can replace/check to get my temps back into the 290-350 normal range?

The heat exchanger looks scaled up and may be leaking.

The Starite heater is the same as the MasterTemp in different packaging.

This heater was made in 2017, and has been inside its whole life. Would it be worth replacing the heat exchanger, or better to replace the whole unit? Pool store says 1300 for them to replace the heat exchanger, or 5000 for a MasterTemp 250 installed. I can buy a new MasterTemp 250 online for 3500 shipped to my door and put it in myself. If I did just the heat exchanger, I’d like it to last at least another 3-5 years.

I would drop in a new heater and start fresh.

Why is the heater indoors?

We bought the house like this - the heater is in a shed next to the pool. The heater doesn’t run in the winter as the pool is winterized.
