I'm confused as to why people set pavers on top of ground and make them flush with top of foam boards. The pool liners are designed to compensate for 2" of sand for standard install with pavers buried flush with ground. So wouldn't the foam just take the place of the sand? I plan on using 1.5" pink foam. I guess if you have an overlap liner your pool could be 1.5" deeper. With the other method(top of the foam even with the bottom of the pool/pavers on top of ground, and foam cut around them) a J-hook seems like the liner would stretch an extra 1.5". (My pool is 21' AGP).

We used compacted aglime then dug the pavers in. We dug the ground out so the lime sits on very solid earth. So the pavers were flush with the lime. Then we put the foam down. Liner fit perfect and still perfectly level.
