Flow rate issue

Does anyone know if changing my Triton 2 TR100 filter sand will help to increase my flow rate?
I have used dye to test for any leaks and have found none. I run my 2.25 hp brand new this year Hayward 2.25 variable speed pump on high. Just replaced the flow meter. I was getting 70 gallons per minute + or - 5 until 10 days ago when it suddenly dropped to 40. The new meter reads 60. I need to get the flow back to 70-75 GPM, but am running out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated!

Pump don't normally just have less flow.. The most likely issue is that your filter is full of algae, even if you can't see it yet..

What happens to your flow right after you backwash the filter??

Why are you fixated on flow? What is not working like it should?

In Michigan we are considered a “public” pool even though we have about 5 or 6 people a day in the pool. Because we put a new pump in at the end of last season, we are now subject to new (post covid, I believe) 6 hour turnover rules. So, based on what the pool inspector has told me, we have to get our flow rate to 75 gpm. ( our pool is currently closed by the County pool inspector).
Backwashing hasn’t impacted the flow rate.

Tell me about your flow meter... How did you originally determine you had 75 GPM? I assume with the same pump..

Were you using the same flow meter or ??

Like I said, pumps, by themselves do not change their flow rates, unless you run them at a lower RPM or there is some obstruction to the flow of water.

Is this an outdoor pool or indoor pool. Is this an HOA pool?

Could something have been sucked into the pump's impeller? Have you checked the impeller to make sure it is not obstructed?

That said, I am sure glad I have a residential pool...
