Fleming Island Fl- New Free Form Pool Build

Re: Jacksonville Fl- New Free Form Pool Build

I hope you have her in "play clothes"!

Now go out and measure everything. Add about 6 inches for gunite and plaster. Is it long, wide, deep, etc enough? NOW is the time to fix or tweak if needed or wanted.

Momma would have my rear end if I didn't put old play clothes on her....

I can't express how happy I am with the onsite manager. Every day he has walked me through the layout and measurements and verifying I'm happy with the shape. We discussed the slope of the walls in the deep end and if I want a sharp curve near the bottom or a gentle taper starting about 4' down. Went with a gentle taper for ease of cleaning and comfort while holding onto the edge.

hotrod, I want you to buy your guy a beer or 6! If you have read many of the pool builds on here you will know how GREAT you have it. Most are good but there have been few like yours! WOW!

Looks like shotcrete tomorrow! Passed county inspection. The lights, floor returns, and main drains are plumbed but not the wall returns or skimmers. I haven't been home to ask but I assume maybe they will install after.

SWEET! Now is the ANY way you can be home during this? They may have ideas for tweaks and improvements. Better YOU decide what you want and do not want.

We did have one build last year where the gunite guys changed the beach walk-in to a step  BUT the home owner was home and saw it right away and had them change it right then and there. It was a LOT easier to fix since it had not set up yet.

Good luck!

I wish I could be home but no luck this morning. I might be home early afternoon to watch them finish up. Lucky my pool is a simple layout and I have faith in the onsite manager. He will there through the entire process.

Re: Jacksonville Fl- New Free Form Pool Build

I managed to get home early and catch the action. Not only was the onsite manager here the Project Manager was here as well. I cannot wait to see the finished product. I am very happy with the steps and bench layouts and the decisions to round every corner to blend in with the shape of the pool. We now have zero hard edges anywhere. Even the shotcrete guys commented on the shape and flow. I was talking to the project manager about the skimmers not being installed first and was told they prefer to place after to ensure the tile and waterline are perfect. It also makes future repairs easier with no breaking of the bond beam. They said there is no right or wrong way just different ways.
More pics coming this evening when finished

I do not think I could be happier with the results and shape of the shell. I forgot to get an overall pic before the sun went down just a few close ups. Oh and a ton of pics of my girl playing in the sand.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! WOW! I can't wait to see the overall pics! That looks great!

Love the smile on your little! SO cute! Thank you for letting her get dirty! That is how to raise a child! I bet bath time is fun too!

Guess what time it is??? Time for you to get your own set of links. I put these together for new pool owners. It is a lot of info so this will give you time to read over it. It will all start to sink in once you start using it.

Make sure to ask any and all questions you might have no matter how small! We have all been where you are at one point.

It is also time to start bonding with your pool aka watering it. You need to water it once a day. This will help it cure. Some cracks may develop. It is normal. The plaster will fill them in.

Talk to your PB about what test kit he provides. Let us know so we can fill in any holes.
