Had the pool resurfaced about 4 years ago and we’re just starting to have some of the coping concrete break up and was looking to patch it. Also a tiny piece of tile came off and looking to fix that too.

1) what is the type of concrete needed to patch it?

2) is it the same for the tile and coping? Few pictures for reference.

I hate to say this but boy they did not do that right..

What type of coping do you have? can you post a picture....

This is how they should have installed your tile, it should not have grout between the coping and top tile, there should be about 1/4 to1/2 inch space with silicone or other joint movement sealant there to allow movement..

Depending on how they installed your coping can also depend on how this joint is done... once I see those picks we can figure out how to get it fixed :)

That was what probably should have been done.. I'll make a note to snap some photos this week. Just a bunch of travel lately.

You need to fix the root cause of why you have horizontal cracking or it will reoccur. A patch will just hide the problem for another year or two.

The route cause is primarily the coping used. Uneven, non uniform from the 70’s when free form rock was used. We reused it vs putting in all new coping stones.
