The plug that connects the cable inside my IntelliCenter to my IC60 is unreliable. The slightest movement of the cable causes the IC60 to lose power. I was considering cutting both cables and joining the four individual wires together with Wago connectors. Anyone see a problem with this plan or have a better idea? I never disconnect my cell from IntelliCenter, so I'm OK with a semi-permanent solution.

Before cutting the cables on both sides, I inspected the connectors. There was noticeable corrosion on one of the pins and it's corresponding sockets.

Left socket:

Upper right pin:

I cleaned the copper with isopropyl alcohol, reconnected the cables, and the IC60 is working fine again. Glad I took a close look before going any further.

pjt,

You might want to keep an eye on it...

The SWCG takes a lot of current to work. Any small resistance in the connector will generate heat, which will increase the resistance, which will make more heat.. This continues until it burns in half.. This happens slowly over months..

Keeping it clean, the best you can will help delay any failure.

Thanks,

Jim R.
