Yikes!!! Yes. Backwash when your pressure rises 25% from clean. If clean is 5, the you should backwash at 6.5. Are you sure the gauge works? Does it go to zero when you turn pump off? What speed are you running pump when you got the 5 and when you got 18-20.Is it possible that I need to backwash the sand filter already? Looks like it’s at 18psi. Started at 5. Well I just turned the pump off an on again and now it’s back so 12psi. It started at 5psi clean. Speed I only have 1 speed from what I can tell.Yikes!!! Yes. This is 4 drops. Still out of range. My question is that if this thing only knows up to 8.2. what if my PH is like 10? How do you know how much muriatic acid to add?Try 4 drops instead of 5 for the PH test. See if it puts you back in the right color range.
How do you know how much muriatic acid to add?
Okay Dang I only have 72 ounces leftLet's fix the filter first, this may be slowing the mixing of the acid. Backwash and get the pressure down, you will get better mixing.
Do it in 72 ounce increments. This does it in .4 increments and protects you from crashing pH because you added so much without knowing. Rinse and repeat.
So I backwashed. Back down to under 10. it says backwash till the water is clear, but my water is green, so it is never clear lolLet's fix the filter first, this may be slowing the mixing of the acid. Backwash and get the pressure down, you will get better mixing.

What city in NJ are you in. finding 31.45% is going to be important given how much you are going to use. I can help you find a place to get it...I’ll run out tomorrow and get more

This is good. How many bottles should I get? Going to test the PH again now. Also, assuming that pH is still super high should I shut off the pump overnight? Really appreciate the help31.45% in stock...

I don't know. Not clear to me. This thread is long, looking for current TA in thread is a pain. You have linked your pool math logs, but they do not show up when I click your link. This is good. Chlorine- did not turn pink = 0I don't know. Not clear to me. This thread is long, looking for current TA in thread is a pain. You have linked your pool math logs, but they do not show up when I click your link.
What is your TA? Unclear why your pH is so high. Muriatic doesn't go bad, so maybe 2-3 gallons? How far away are the stores?
Pump doesn't really matter for pH. What matter is how fast is your pressure rising. Don't want your pressure to spike again to 20 and you not catch it. While killing and filtering, you should catch it when it rises 25% from baseline. Did you log your clean filter pressure in Pool Math so you remember?
Store is close yes
Okay so continue adding chlorine even if my PH is high. Got it. I have added the following.Just keep adding 5ppm of liquid chlorine a day until you can get the pH down.
I'd get 3...doesn't go bad.
Final question...did you or are you adding CYA? (don't want to search 5 pages of the thread).
Let's call it muratic. pH minus is a pool store name for sodium bisulfate (dry acid) which you should not use.PH minus added (1 gallon)
Ok, great. Do you have pool math? Link-->PoolMathLiquid chlorine added (1 gallon)
Stabilizer added (4 pounds)
