First time pool startup

Thank you. So if the solution does not turn pink and I have no chlorine, then I don’t need to test for Free chlorine since there is no chlorine? Sorry this may seem like an obvious question, but as a total noob had to ask.
Small point of correction. That IS the free chlorine test. There’s no reason to continue with the CC test if the solution never turns pink in the first place.

Here we go!

Chlorine- did not turn pink = 0

Calcium hardness = 375 ppm (could be less as it started turning blue after drop 11 but it went to total blue at drop 15.

PH- High (photo attached unless I did it wrong looks off the scale) E755CF7B-27EB-4F30-B7A5-8C46CAB85805.jpeg

TA- 70

CYA- slightly above 20

That Ph we call 8.2 in poolmath & target like 7.5 over and over until it comes inline

I would
add enough liquid chlorine to add 5ppm.
add 20ppm of Chlorine Stabilizer.
reduce pH in .4 increments until it is between 7.4-7.6.

Amateur questions:

1. How do I know how much chlorine to add to get to 5ppm or is it trial and error. When should I test after adding the chlorine and won’t the chlorine just get eaten by whatever algae may be there.
2. Chlorine stabilizer same question, how do I know what’s 20ppm?
3. How often should I test PH levels after adding PH minus? And how do I know it’s in .4 increments?

Really appreciate your help. I learn and retain knowledge pretty well so I should be good once I do it once

Download this, configure your pool, and use the FC button, or effects of adding function. Link-->PoolMath

30 minutes with pump running. Pool Math.

Downloading now. Thanks. Darn I don’t know how many gallons my pool is. Pool company told me 30-45k. But that’s a big range.

Then you a chemical addition. If you overshoot, reduce pool volume by 500 gallons, rinse repeat. If you undershoot, increase pool volume by 500 gallons.

Be careful with “pH-“ if that means dry acid as it adds sulphates to the water. It’s better if you can use liquid acid, probably cheaper too.

Okay great. So to get to that chlorine number it’s saying I only need 1.5 gallons. Assuming this will get eaten up quickly more or less,
How many gallons should I “store” to prep for the slam?

Add the 20ppm of CYA. Use a target slam for CYA of 30 (which is 12 FC). You can adjust SLAM level later if needed.

I wouldn't store anything until we know we need to SLAM with OCLT.
