We live in Minnesota and usually still have ice on our pool this time of year but this year was an unusually very very warm winter. Haven’t really had any ice on it since February. Normally we open the pool before it warms up so it is clear and we don’t have to deal with algea. We just keep the pump running when it is below zero, but this year it is almost black it is so green. I have the pool math calculator app, but I’m no longer seeing the calculations for slamming it. The ph was below measurable values like it always is when we open it so I stupidly threw in a bunch of borax to raise the ph without measuring it and now it is 7.6-7.7 which is probably too high to slam. I have never had to lower ph before. It’s actually usually a struggle to keep it up. I have a TA of 70. I’m at a loss as to what to do now. I read noT to an anlgecide until after I shock but I’m not sure how much liquid bleach to add to this mess or what I level to keep the chlorine at until it clears. It’s a weird shaped pool so not sure of the exact volume but it’s somewhere between 20-30k. I usuallly use 20k when trying to determine chemicals and then adjust as needed. I’m not sure what the water temp is. It hurts to put your hand in so probably mid to upper 40s . Need to get a new pool thermometer. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to add to clear it up are appreciated. Thanks.
