First time testing. Should I do all tests for my sw pool?
So far
Cya 60
Total alk 60
Ph pinker than 8.2
No color for chlorine side of ph chlorine block

So maratic acid and stabilizer or do I need to do further testing?

Do the FAS-DPD FC test.
No need for stabilizer this time of year.
I would lower pH to 7.8. Use Poolmath and enter 8.2 for start and 7.8 for target. Be sure the TA is entered.

Be careful when reading pH. For it to be 8.2 the color should be more purple than red.

If your FC is 0, add enough liquid chlorine to get to at least 6 ppm FC. Set your SWCG to generate 4 ppm FC per day.

Ignore the chlorine side of the ph comparator. You should use the drop test for chlorine. That being said, if you get no color on chlorine side of the pH comparator there’s no chlorine in your pool and you should get some in ASAP.

Your CYA is probably ok, so no need for stabilizer. You need to add acid and chlorine.

I would go ahead and run a full test to have a baseline on everything.

Brought a sample to pinch a penny while waiting for replies and raised my confidence level a little when they came up with no chlorine and ph greater than 8, as I did.
Also had same cya 60 and alkalinity 60.

Results differed on salt test, mine 2600, theirs 2700, was appropriate this was low end for salt written we've only had polio for 2 months.

Where is the save button on pool math? It says I have no logs when I have already put my numbers in.

Added recommended 1 cup acid
Will add chlorine as well.

Should I really need to add 80 pounds of salt already?? Seems odd to me and unsure where to check my setting for swg, guess I was not paying close enough attention during pool school

Did drop test for chlorine. Stayed clear never went to pink or brown confirming no chlorine. One bottle or half the bottle? Pool math doesn't give me a recommendation that I can see

First thing to do is add liquid chlorine (pump running) to get FC toward high end of target range for your CYA.
FC/CYA Levels
Use PoolMath, Effects of Adding to determine the correct dosage.

Second - 30 minutes after adding liquid chlorine is to add muriatic acid to lower your pH (pump running).
Add enough muriatic acid to lower your pH in increments of 0.4. Retest pH 30 minutes (pump running) later and add more muriatic acid in increments of 0.4 to get your pH to about 7.4.

Log all results in PoolMath and reply here so we can see and advise as necessary.

We can discuss getting your salt levels in range once we see how your FC and pH adjustments go.
