First Test, Suggestions?

Keep after it as much as you can. Hit it hard and frequently.

To keep from using too much of the FC reagents, you can do a 5mL test. Only use 5mL of pool water and each drop will be 1ppm. Without something to make sure you are measuring 5mL (syringe) it will be a guesstimate, but it will be close. Might go ahead and order some more testing reagents.

CJ7 - After you have done all the work, can you post a picture of your pool? I am curious now :)

Yard/Fence is currently being finished .

Great idea on the 5mL test. Can I get away with one scoop of powder for this test? I do have a syringe available, thanks for the tip!

You overshot on how much bleach to add. Check your Poolmath data for next time.

The FC will fall. Pretty quickly with your CC of 3.

I'm certain the data was accurate with exception of my pool size. With that result, it would be closer to 6,000 gallons. I don't think I'm off by 3,000 gallons? Pool is 12' x 20' (3' to 5.5' depth) with a 7' x 8' foot shelf and a 7' x 8' spa.

I've turned on the spa jets to hopefully increase circulation. Testing another hour after the initial post SLAM test. Pool is looking quite clear actually.

Did you enter the correct strength of your bleach?

Doubt you are off that much in volume.

I would not run the spa jets. They will just raise your pH. Normal circulation is fine. I assume you circulate some water through the spa all the time.

Yes, it is listed as 6% and this is what was entered. Considering the volume of acid was spot on I figured my volume was within range. Spa jets are off now. I seem to have poor return flow in the pool with the majority of return running to the spa create a spill over effect.

Perhaps the jugs were overfilled? Should I be concerned about the higher FC level or is it ok?

Why use the 5ml? Seems you may create more issues than you need to and then providing inaccurate information which makes it more difficult to help. Then again mistakes happen...I have made plenty :)

Your SLAM will go much quicker if you can test and bring the FC back to SLAM level more often.

Take care.

Trying! Couldn't break away from work today.

Unfortunately I am leaving tomorrow around 4pm until Monday. Any suggestions for me? I'm assuming I'll have to restart the process Monday unfortunately. The FC loss from UV is killing me.

If there is no one that can add any bleach over the weekend, then you will see what things look like when you return.

I think I can have someone add, but it will be without testing. It looks like 128 fl oz of 6% bleach would add 7ppm FC to my pool. Should I just have them add one a day until I return if I dose it to 24ppm before leaving?

Just measured:

FC: 24
CC: 1.5
