First start up after refilling, need help balancing

We have no trust in pool store testing.

Go to Extended Testing Direction in Pool School.

the spa is 8wx8lx3-5Deep, pool 40lx18w(but tapers to 10ft),3-6deep

Looking at your pool pic I see a swim lane and some steps. How long is the swim lane 40 feet? How wide is the swim lane from the edge of the steps to the lane wall in feet 10? The depth of the swim lane from 3 to 6 feet? If so then your swim lane is approximately 13,500 gallons.

Your spa is 1900 gallons using your numbers. That rounds up to 15,500 gallons not adding the area around and in front of the steps. Where are the other 14,000 gallons? Perhaps your picture shows only slightly more than half of your pool volume?

I need to remeasure it. I measured it as a perfect square and used the longest×widest×deepest. I'll divide the pool in to section than add instead.

results from the test I took this morning. TA 120, PH 7.9-8.0, CYA still not registering <150?, FC 4. so I came to two conclusion. either my cya test is bad, or im not testing correctly. Since all the other ranges were close to what I had, I added two cups of muriatic acid this morning and letting the pump run and will retest when I get home. I recalculated pool volume again and came up with 23k, might not be accurate but a lot closer to what I had though in the first place. any other suggestion?
