Finished: Build North East Atlanta

Pebble Install, FINALLY some WARM sunny weather!

Finally, the rain took a hiatus. This pool project that was supposed to take 2-3 moinths is now going on 6 months.

Pebble went in today. We went with wet edge Prism Matrix Deep Sea Blue. Loved the glass bead and shells, and were looking at a dark blue finish. They will let it dry, and come acid wash it it wednesday. The equipment is going in wednesday. And then we fill.

The pebble went in with a haze of a smurf blue finish, but as they rised it darkened up.

Cabana fireplace and drainage is still being worked on. Hopefully wrap the project up in the next few weeks if the sun stays around!

 FINALLY! That was a quite a bit of time added on! Can't wait to see if full of water.

When they start adding water do NOT turn it off for any reason!!!!!! If you turn it off before it gets in the middle of the waterline tile it can make a ring on the new plaster and there is very little you can do to fix it :(

Have a sock or such to put on the end of the hoses to keep the metal off your pretty new plaster and have the ends right by the main drains.

Pics coming:
Zero entry with stepoff. Bubblers in shelf. TExas limestone wall (I need to light acid wash, and seal which we havent done yet)-this stuff is HIGH maintenance) .4 bar stools in pool, the kids love sitting there eating. There is a stepout with rock stairs to climb up to the rock waterfall. The fireplace turned out HUGE, because it really was like a retaining wall inside the sunken cabana.

Pool color is Wet Edge DEEP SEA BLUE. Depending on lighting, this is a dark deep blue, perfect color we were looking for. The pool cleaner is in the pool stirring the water so you cant see how sparkly it is, it was a pretty expensive upgrade. Limestone wall is higher maintanence than I like. We haven't done the final cleaning of it and sealing. Hot tub is huge. Could fit 20 people in it, its our favorite feature, we use it everyday.

Cabana is countersunk. Awesome feature that pictures cant do justice. When sitting below look out at water level. Back wall of cabana is pool wall, with barstools in water.
Easy to belly up to the cabana and watch a game, have a drink or eat whats being cooked. Kamado Komodo cooker, my green egg on steroids. Cypress ceiling, cedar beams (did not know about carpenter bees until these beams. They love this stuff. Had to put up carpenter bee traps). Still a lot of finish detail to get done around the fireplace.

2 years after our build we are very happy with the results, and advice given on the forum. Biggest tips I’d pass on:

1) SWG size: get a salt water generated rated higher than the volume of your pool (I forgot the rule but at least double). This summer all my neighbors were adding chlorine, and I just cranked my SWG up.

2) zero entry: I don’t know if I would do it again. Looks pretty, and good for
Little kids, but pool cleaner won’t go up there (my m600 will actually drive out of pool I had to shorten cord), leaves collect at water line, and chairs put in sit at an off angle. Wish we would have done a lounging area instead.

3) BE CAREFUL putting your pool cleaner in your spa. I did thinking it would clean out sand, and watched it. It scratched the two seat edges pretty bad, not there are white lines.

4) Leaves: if you have big leaves, get a pool cleaner with a single large basket. I had a m500 (still have, completely rebuilt by Maytronics- going to sell it). I bought a m600 and the single top load basket does way better if you have lots of big leaves.

Attached are two night pictures around Christmas...

How have the Belgard Lafitt Rustic Slab pavers held up? We're permitting our build now, and that is our front runner for decking.

they are excellent. Not hot on the feet, we live in georgia and my feet don’t burn, no one complains.
Very good looking natural pavers, more “tan” but with nice variation.

it’s raining here, but here are a few pics of it wet. A lot darker when wet, and the blacks come out.

now that the season is over, I need to resand the cracks.

we have an area that doesn’t get sun under our couch, and there was some mild mildew growth. Pulled out the pressure washer and they washed up beautifully, no damage. They are hard!

A bunch of our friends who built
Pools this year say they wish they had gone with these when they see them and feel under feet in the hot Sun.
