Filter will not backwash

Got a new gauge this morning! Back in business on that end.
My husband is going to open up the filter later today. I showed him a picture of the laterals. He said we do not have those on ours. I looked at the booklet that came with the filter. There is nothing labeled "laterals" or no picture of anything that look like them in the diagram.
Is it possible we have some other part that does the same job, but is made differently.
There is a part labeled "underdrain" that he thinks is maybe the same thing as a lateral, just in a different model. I can't find anything online related to it.
I can post a picture later when he has it taken apart.

After reading through older posts on here I've figured out that the underdrain is the same as laterals on other pool filters. I have a doughboy Aquaview System.
How do we go about cleaning them?

I don't know about that filter. You're going to have to open it up and see what's happening.

Maybe check YouTube to see if there's a video that shows the inside of the filter.

My husband opened it up. There was barely any sand in it! It must have all ended up in the pool when it was running backwards. I cleaned the underdrain and we added sand. So far, so good.
I couldn't tell there was sand in the pool because it's still very cloudy.
