Fiberglass pool oxidation

Hi,

I had a leisurescapes fiberglass pool installed two years ago. Last year when i drained the pool down for winter, the fiberglass was uniform in color above and below the waterline. This year, there is major oxidation of the fiberglass below the waterline. I am methodical with my pool levels - have the top of the line taylor testing kit, so this is not a water balance problem. I verified it isn't scale by putting some muriatic acid on the surface to no effect. What are my options here?

Unless you wish to attempt a warranty claim with the manufacture, or pay out of pocket for a new gelcoat, you might just have to live with it. Our shell did the same. No rhyme or reason, just happens to some pools and not others even when the chemistry is properly maintained.

There are several people on this forum reporting the problem. I have the same problem. I followed @Texas Splash saga. After reading that, I just resigned to living with it.

great. I had that problem on vinyl pools which is why i went with fiberglass at a large premium. Guess i'll need to figure out how to install waterline tiles. Thanks for your responses.
