FG Pool Shell Payment due 100% up front

Hoping people can weigh in on this. Our new FG pool is being delivered in a few weeks. We had to put 50% down as a deposit. I assumed the other 50% would be due at time of delivery (my fault for making any assumptions). I'm being told we have to pay the remaining 50% + $3K in shipping now. Is this the norm for the FG shells? I don't feel comfortable with this. It's being shipped from NC to MA, and I'm told there is no formal policy in place, should something happen to the pool in transit/arrived damaged. Wondering what is the normal payment process for the shell (not installation) with FG pools.

Regrettably, that seems to be the new way of doing things at River Pools. They did my pool (installed by them, not an affiliate) about 10 years ago and I had a more traditional "milestone" payout. Speaking for my dealings with the home office - they could not be easier to work with and completely stand behind their work, moreso than anyone else I have ever encountered. Your local affiliate may be different, but I am certain a call to the VA office can get any sticking point resolved.

Where in MA are you located?

I would pay the shipping and maybe 25% but no more until the pool was installed and leave 10% until it is complete just like a normal pool... You will have no leverage on a bad install and that is what they want...

If it's just the shell I wouldn't be to concerned but I would talk about what happens if the shell is delivered and you aren't happy with the quality.

+1. In. Writing. There was a member recently that got a shell with a hole in it. It wasn't structural or the end of the world in their instance but it was still damage.

Are you having it installed by a pool builder or are you installing it?
Licensed installer will be installing it. My husband knows the installer well, the payment terms for the shell just seem strange to me. This is our first pool so unsure of what the norm is, I should have asked more questions up front, which is completely on me. I just worry about the pool being damaged in transit.

This makes me feel better, all the reviews, everything I've read/researched has been great about them. It's just a big trip for the pool up to MA (metrowest area). But it will be shipped with Police details I guess b/c of the oversized load, hopefully that helps deter any unforeseen issues. It's just a ton of $ to put up blindly that concerns me. My husband is good friends with the PB and works with him a ton, so I feel confident about the installation. I'm just nervous about the shipping part...

You are right, there will be some sort of escort due to the size of the pool / trailer it is on. I was not home the day ours was delivered - it is an exciting day and I regret that I was out of town.
