FC keeps going down on daily tests

Post up a full set of results, but chlorine demand is not a constant and you should expect demand to go up with water temp and presumably increased usage.

The 28oz of chlorine you added on 6/30 only raised your chlorine by 3.1. I would expect you to lose 3-4 FC daily.

I will run a full test today! So 3-4 FC daily is typical?

Ran a test today - my CYA seems more accurate from the last test of 25-30. Last I added CYA it was supposed to be at 45-50.

Based off my results today I was gonna add liquid chlorine of course, but also add baking soda to increase my TA.

Just want to confirm that when I am dosing liquid chlorine. I dose it based off of the top end of the recommend range? So it would be dosing off of 8ppm for FC.

Do I do the same for TA?

It's best to aim for the high to account for situations that may draw more FC. There's no advantage to hovering just above minimum level. It may take a little more chlorine to get there, but once you're there the daily dose should be about the same.

Is that the same idea for TA? Or any other stuff. Like should I aim for the high range of the recommend level?

All your other numbers look good. With a vinyl pool nothing is as important as the FC/CYA relationship. No reason to worry about TA unless it's very high or very low. Just maintain pH between 7.2 and 8.0.

Nothing wrong with aiming for "ideal" levels (y)

Just add enough baking soda to raise the TA from 50 to 70.

But first, be sure you are taking the TA test to completion.....
Continue to add R-0009 until the last drop does not make a color change, and then subtradt that last drop from the count. If drop 5 changes the color, drop 6 changes it a bit further and drop 7 makes not change - you count 6 drops.

Same goes for the CH test.
