Failed OCLT?

DO not stop slam until your pool looks like this...Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?
AND you pass OCLT. Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
AND your CC<=.5
Hello new dude and Jess. My oclt was good one day and then I checked it and not good the next day. I can't pass the quarter test in the deep end. I understand I should keep doing slam at 20 PPM for a 50 cya. But how long can I do this without causing any damages to my above ground vinyl liner that is 18 years old. Should I just keep slamming until I can see the quarter? Appreciate your help. I love keeping it at the 20 because the pool is just so Crystal Clear it's amazing but I'm afraid I'm going to hurt my liner keeping it that high for so long. I am into this slam since the 8th. Should I have any concerns or just keep doing it until I can see that darn quarter? Thanks again

Slam is fine for the pool. Re-read post #64. :)

I'm confused though. You say it's so crystal clear but you can't pass the quarter test. Is it just clearer than it ever was before but still not perfect ?

What was the loss ? It may have been a borderline pass that was really a fail, or you stirred/brushed up some more gunk on the 2nd day.

Let's see new pics too.

I think it it has clear as it has ever been don't know if I ever could have seen a quarter in the bottom of the deep end heads or tails. The oclt came back minor to PPM less than the night before but it did rain a lot during that night the ocl test the day before was dead on no loss at all. I have a question can I just keep it in Slam mode and keep the FC up to like 20 would be according to my Seaway and in doing that you don't have to worry about alkalinity and ph??. If keeping it and slam doesn't bother the liner why wouldn't you just keep it in Slam it doesn't smell funny taste funny just looks beautiful

Ok. You will be able to. The water has to be still though, any ripples skew the image. If it's still I can see that my main drain screws are #2 Phillips. No joke. It's the 'Phillips screw test' and my personal go-to :ROFLMAO:

Yes. But FC burns off as a % so you lose more to the sun at higher FCs. It's not noticeable near target range, but it is at SLAM level.

Crazy right? People go to a public pool that reeks and think it's great that the chlorine is working and it's good and safe. Except. The smells are all the yuckies depleting the FC, and it's a gross thing that there is that many yuckies.

I have achieved oclt. I have achieved tfp clear. Do I let chlorine die down on its own to 6/8 for my cya at 50? At that point do I do alkalinity check and ph?. When I get those readings I will ask you what to use for alkalinity and pH. Thank you

Cc is zero. I will hold 20 FC for one more day and do an oclt tonight as well just to be sure. Here is a pic of the pool at the steps . The second pic is a two horsepower pump I have set on the steps to help circulation . With this big a pool 21x42 with 8 ft deep end and one skimmer and one return / I need more circulation . Your thoughts on that? Thank you

Having a birthday party today with 20 kids probably good idea to keep the slam there. You think?

Good morning. I held oclt again overnight. Checked FC last night at 7:30 it's at 17 checked again 6:30 this morning it's still holding its 17. No CC. What are your thoughts on letting it come down now?

Temperature went from 92 yesterday down to 62 overnight the pool heater came . have it set at 82. What a drop in temps huh it's supposed to do the same thing today 90 Plus and mid-60s overnight.

Did you want a picture of it? The pool or? I would think it will take to at least tomorrow for my FC to come down to 6/8. At that point do I need to add metal sequestion because of my well water and the stains on the bottom of my pool? Do I need to add any algaecide? Where should I start balancing it I'm thinking alkalinity pH? Don't think that I'll need any algaecide as long as I keep an eye on after amenity pH and chlorine is that correct?
