Does anyone know a cheaper place to find these? Or a 3d print model of them? Is it possible to retrofit into the new screw in style? 20$ a piece seems like a lot.

If you remove the plate and existing "eyeball," these may pop into the pipe in the wall. Sometimes takes a flat board across the fitting with the eyeball removed and a large hammer to get them to stay in the pipe:
