Everyday I get "Pump 1: Power Outage Alarm" and "Pump 1: Communication Lost" alerts on my ScreenLogic iPhone app

My pool is a few years old. I have an EasyTouch and Intelliclor salt system. Recently, I had the Screenlogic interface and wireless connection kit installed to control my system wirelessly. With my new system, I now see the "Pump 1: Power Outage Alarm" and "Pump 1: Communication Lost" alerts daily. I assume there is an issue with the wiring that is causing these alerts, but I am no electrician. I have attached a photo how the controller is wired. Please review and give me your input. Thank youIMG-9070.JPG in advance!

Welcome to TFP.

What model pump do you have? IntelliFlo VS?

If so, it should be wired to the LINE side of the filter/pump relay, not the LOAD side, for continuous power.

Identify the wires that power your pump. I think it is the black and red wires on the LOAD screws of your top left filter/pump relay. They should be moved one screw left to the LINE screws. Make sure CBs are off before working on high voltage.

I note that your pool equipment has no GFCI CBs. Your light has GFCI through the outlet on the lower right.

A,

The idiot that installed your pump has the AC power going through the Pump/Filter relay. This is absolutely wrong!!

You just need to move the Black and Red wires from the load side of the relay over the Line side of the relay. Leave the white and yellow wires on the load side.

The pump/filter relay is the one on the left side of the top row.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim. I figured the wiring was messed up. Are these the black and red wires you are referring to (that I've labeled)? Where exactly would they get rewired? IMG-9070_LI 2.jpg

Yes, move them one screw over to the left to the LINE screws.

A,

The two wires you labeled would each move one pin to the left.

So the first pin would have two Black wires and the third pin would have two Red wires.

Basically, this sends power from the circuit breaker directly to the VS pump and allows the power to go through the Pump/Filter relay when it is closed to power the salt cell.

The yellow wire would stay on the 2nd pin and the White wire stays on the 4th pin.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I did that. Now the Intelliflo VS Pump looks like it has continuous power! Was that my the only issue? Thank you!!!

A,

What do you mean they are "not working"?

Show us some pics of your equipment pad and the pool/spa.

Do you have a spillover spa? If so, does the spillover work?

When you go into the spa mode, does the spillover stop?

Are your jets run by your IntelliFlo pump or do you have a separate pump for the jets?

If you just have the IntelliFlo pump, what speed does it run in the spa mode?

Do the jets work, but they are just weak? If so, what kind of filter do you have and when was the last time you cleaned it?

Thanks,

Jim R.

What do you mean they are "not working"? The spa gets hot, but the high powered (air) jets don't work when turned on.

Yes, we have a spillover spa and it does work.

Yes, when in spa mode the spillover stops.

I thought the jets are run by the Superflo pump. The Superflo doesn't run when either the Jets and or High Speed features are turned on. The IntelliFlo VS pump does turn on with these features, but jets aren't turning on.

No, they don't seem to be working at all. I have Pentair cartridge filters and I clean the filters a couple times a year.

Here's a photo of the pool/spa... Thanks

A,

You have a Circuit named "Jets".. It has to either move a valve, or turn on a blower, or pump. (I now assume it should turn on your SuperFlo pump..)

Looking at the buttons on the main panel, tell me which button is labeled as "Jets".

Very nice-looking pool... :goodjob:

Thanks,

Jim R.

A,

If you look, you can see that your Aux relays 5 and 6 are not connected to anything.

This means that Jets and Jets High have nothing to do with your single speed SuperFlo pump.

I can only "assume" that they are using Aux 5 and Aux 6 as speed controls for your IntelliFlo.

I need to see these pages from your ScreenLogic setup.

Thanks,

Jim R.

A,

I think I can see a major issue...

You have no speeds set up for your Pool and Spa Circuits.

You need to have a speed for your Pool Circuit of whatever turns your salt cell's flow switch on. My guess would be 1400 RPM.

I'd set up a Spa speed of 2000 RPM..

How are you even running the pool at all without the pump running in the Pool and Spa mode???

Show me you schedules page.. Like this.

As rstrouse points out above, you need to find out what relay that relay coil wire is going..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Here is the schedule:

I changed the setup to what you recommended. Does this look right?

I'll investigate that relay wire...
