Easytouch SCG Transformer Question

As I had previously written, I have an Easytouch system that had intellichlor installed a couple of years later. I didn’t want a separate power center installed on the side of my house so the installer did so with the transformer, etc in the automation system. Later I realized that while it works he took the parts from the external power center and installed them inside and as you can see from the pic, the biggest issue is that the control board for the system was just “floating” on the high powered side with the heat sink unattached.

That being said, I purchased all the appropriate parts to do the job correctly. I purchased the correct SCG card, installed the correct low voltage breaker and purchased the correct cord to connect to the IC40. I just went to hook it all up and unfortunately the red/orange (I am colorblind) wires that go from the transformer to the low voltage breaker and card do not reach. Is there two different transformers for the system where one is to be installed in the Easytouch and one in the external power center? If so, does anyone know the correct part number for the one that goes in the Easytouch? Any other ideas on how to remedy?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Gold,

Maybe I just don't fully understand the problem...

Just use a wire nut and some spare wire, and make it longer...

Thanks,

Jim R.
That I can do, however I hate saying this but I am not an electrician so I wasn’t sure of the following:

Is there a certain, type, gauge, etc of wire I should use?
Additionally is there a certain type of female disconnects that I would need to have so it properly connects to the circuit board and low volt breaker?

Gold,

The Red wires on your current transformer have spade connectors on the ends. One wire goes to the Surge card and one wire goes the the small circuit breaker. Either Red wire can go to either connection, they are interchangeable..

Since the wires are not long enough, just cut the red wires in half, so that you can make them longer and still use the existing connector. Use any stranded 22 gauge wire.

This might help..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Ok, that I can do, last question though you mentioned 22 gauge wire and the red wires say they are 14AWG 600V 105 degree C. Shouldn’t it be 14 gauge wire? Not questioning, just wanting to make sure. Thanks.

Thanks so I much. I have a proper stripper. I love this website, everyone is so incredibly helpful.

Gold,

I had wrongly assumed 22 gauge, and I agree match what is there now..

I too use Wagos and was just trying not to confuse you.. If you know what they are just use them. :goodjob:

Thanks,

Jim R.

22 AWG is good for communication wires.

For the power wires, the current can be up to about 8 amps, which requires heavier wire.
