Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

Once it starts refilling, do I wait until it's done to add chlorine?
Or is it better to add some as there will be lots of algae left to treat?

I couldn't find any write-ups about that

As the pool is filling, you can add enough CYA to get you to 30 ppm. You can also add chlorine as the pool is filling. Not aware of any videos, but see if this article helps.
