Expect 3-5 years of service life out of them. If you’re careful about taking them out of the pool when not needed and storing them away for the winter, you can get longer life out of them. Robots are not designed to be repairable and so it makes more sense to simply toss them when the motor assembly goes bad (which is the most expensive part) and buy new. So that means you have to be willing to pay the cost of brand new every 3-5 years. Some people are ok with that as the cost of doing business with a pool, others prefer not to. Up to you …
I'd like to blame living in the post covid shortages world but in fairness, every 5 to 10 years i have wished that *anything* was still made like it used to be. I thought that the early 2000s *anything* was garbage and now I long to be able to buy something of that high quality in comparison.
Its easy to bash on pool robots these days but I just needed a coffee maker and all the various models were being trashed just the same. The old one lasted 3 years and I'd be thrilled if this one did too.
Best wishes that in 8+ years you race out to buy another one because this one did so well.
