Does AA treatment affect CYA measurements?

I did an AA treatment yesterday and went to test my CYA before adding bleach to make sure I wasn't adding too much for stains to return immediately. The CYA reading was around 60 or 70 but I know that cannot be the case because I haven't even added any CYA yet this spring. It should be down around 20 or 30 and I have some trichlor pucks I was going to use up to get it at 40 or 50 over the next couple weeks. My FC was zero because I had only added half a gallon of bleach so I am sure there is still some AA in the water. Would this make my CYA read too high?

No interactions that I know about but given that the pH is probably low from the AA, I wouldn’t trust the test results. The CYA test reagent has some additives to adjust pH into the right range and you could be interfering with that. Just ignore it and assume you have 30ppm CYA and go from there. You’re not going to damage anything by assuming that and adding FC accordingly.

I got the FC and ph in line and measured CYA again at 50. Still a bit higher than I was expecting as my last measurement was probably in December when I thought it was 40 but I could be remembering wrong. The reason I expected lower than 40 is because we got a significant amount of rain Jan-April to dilute it. My skimmer also leaks a little when the water level gets very high so I do lose water when we get a storm dumping 2-3 inches of rain.

Anyway, the measurement from yesterday could have been the ph being a little low from the AA but it wasn't far off. It isn't like I have a green pool or anything major to complain about.
