Palm Springs
Hi all. I am moving into a house with a large inground pool in Palm Springs.
I want to build a DIY solar pool heater as cheaply as possible that will still
Deliver efficient heating. Can someone recommend a design and specific materials? We also plan to use a pool cover to extend the season. So pool cover recommendations would be appreciated too. Novice here.

Welcome to the forum!

We have had many members on the forum attempt to build panels that have a lower $/btu than commercial panels but few have actually succeeded. The few that do succeed are generally those that can get landscape tubing for close to free. The spiral tubing method seems to be the best design for efficiency. However, a DIY panel will never reach the efficiency of commercial panels because of the tubing size so DIY panels will always be larger for the same BTU as commercial panels.
