Did not mix calcium chloride

Gary,
Hi and welcome. You need to introduce yourself and tell us what prompted you to add it to the pool. Please fill out your signature with link below so we can easily help you in the future. How are you testing the water. For the meantime use your pool brush and push it around some.

Welcome to TFP.

This page has our recommendation for how to adjust each chemical...

Calcium products should be spread across the surface of the deep end of the pool.

Do not mix calcium in a small bucket of water. When dissolved in water, solid calcium chloride releases heat in an exothermic reaction.

What is the pool surface?

When broadcasting calcium chloride, it's important to brush immediately to prevent it sticking to the floor.

It the floor is vinyl, be careful not to force the stuck calcium chloride or it can damage the liner.

My preference is to premix it.

It does release heat as it dissolves, but, as long as you don't dissolve too much at a time, the heat is not a problem.

Limit the amount to about 2 to 3 lbs per gallon of water.
