Hello,
I’m new to the TFP process. Pool is about a year and half old. I was using chlorine tabs up til a few weeks ago. No real problems except an algae bloom last summer that I shocked and cleaned out of. No problems this summer. CYA got up to about 200 and I decided to move to TFP process. Drained and replaced water to get CYA down and all my numbers look good. I cleaned the filter cartridges today and noticed a deposit on each of the filters that I don’t recall seeing before. It‘s within a few inches of the bottom interior of each cartridge. It looks and feels like dried glue (kind of like Elmer’s wood glue). To be honest, I had not really checked those areas closely before, so they could have been there all along. Any ideas on what they might be? Appreciate any help.

Welcome to TFP! I'm not sure either. It does look a lot like they just got sloppy when they glued the filter together at the factory. But let's give others some time to look at the pic. Maybe more ideas will flow in.

Thanks for posting and enjoy the forum. :swim:

Looks like they got sloppy at the factory with the glue. You can see what it’s supposed to look like on the right side of the picture.

Might have been a cartridge repair at the factory or someone installed used cartridges. Notice how the plastic support is broken in that area. The glue was probably placed to help support the paper media in that spot.
