Decoy’s Above Ground Pool Saga

Gonna try and get the drill bit outta the bottom
Step and make weights for the ladder today.

Question: if I drill a 3/4” hole in the bottom of the ladder step to get it out, is it important that I close the hole up? The ladder steps have holes all over them I guess to let them fill and drain as you use it.

If so I was thinking buy a plastic plug from the store and just plug it Kinda like a piggy bank.

I’m thinking it’s not that critical since there are already many holes in the steps.

I made all the holes in my steps bigger. Once a week, I shut the pump off, fill a turkey baster with chlorine, and give every step a shot. Then I re-fire the pump after a few minutes and "let the circulation begin." Easy-peasey, and any unneeded chlorine goes right back into the mix. My wife calls it our pool's weekly booster shot!

Today is party day! Spent about 3 hours yesterday trying to figure out how to weigh down the ladder without putting sand in the legs.

My quick solution with what I had was take a bunch of marble chips and pea gravel water and bleach and fill two jugs with them to make the weights.

I made one that’s probably about 10 lbs and one probably almost 20. I cleaned the rocks and added bleach to the jugs and added more water. Used plumbers tape to put the cap on. I turned them upside down and didn’t leak.

I wanted to zip tie them together and make a loop I can just hang on the barrier to make it easy to remove but that spot didn’t work to weight them down with the amount I had.

I put them to one side on the 3rd step and it’s holding it down but I’ll have to redo this since it’s not sitting evenly right now. I just needed something that works for today.

Still waiting on electrician to confirm fixes for permits. In the mean time my water is looking great!

Thanks again for all suggestions on weights!

Party was fun today! It wasn’t a Lot of people. Pool was great! Water was perfect!

I built another pool but I didn’t have a laser level so I don’t think it’s right ;) but the water is def TFP clear!

Thanks! That’s cool! I love the pretzel rods and the pond!

I hear you they get big so fast. I can’t believe she’s 12!
Right! My daughter can drive now (permit) 🫣 - I just took my life in my hands a couple hours ago as we attempted to learn a stick shift 🤦‍♀️
Time is a thief.

Spoke to the electrician. The town inspector says he couldn’t find the original pool
Permits which showed the electrical installation so we would have to move the post and pump. I told him that’s weird because I actually have the original permits haha. I pulled them when this whole thing began.

Electrician asked me to call town inspector and let him know I have them. So I left a message for him. Fingers crossed the receptacle is grandfathered so I don’t have to move everything.

Still waiting haha.

Pool is staying TFP clear!

My numbers have been very consistent everyday. I add about 3 cups of chlorine each day to maintain 7ppm. Usually when I test before adding chems it’s 5ppm.

PH has been holding steady around 7.5.

Pool is clear water feels good. Finally vacuumed again yesterday.

More questions:
1. Is there a reason I can’t post pics anymore? Did I reach a limit on my account? I can’t find any info on this. My text emojis etc is all grayed out so all I can do it write regular text.

2. I found 2 scratches through the coating on my top rails!!! These either happened on installation or they were factory. I’m not sure. What can I put on them to slow any rust or corrosion?
