Other than vacuum to waste, it is best to brush it to get it into circulation to be captured by the filter.
Do you have a hole in your grid that is allowing DE to come into the pool or did you just spill some DE in the pool accidentally?
I am not sure how it got in. It came out the return after I cleaned the filter. I thought I had a hole in one of the filters so I dismantled the filter but there were no holes.

I am reading that you change the multi-port valve to waste to vacuum to waste but I don't see anything that looks like the multi-port valve and I don't see anything that I could switch to waste.
Suggest 2 things. Fill our your signature in the Profile portion with the list of equipment, pool volume etc.
Second, post a picture of your equipment pad from 2 or 3 different angles and we can see how you are set up. You may not have a multiport valve in front of your DE filter so we need to see what you have.
