DE filter when you dump it

Where do you let it run to?

Every year i think about this as i am opening and need to bump and dump early. I let it run onto a tarp which catches much of the DE, but water into yard.

What does everyone else do?

i actually have a french drain that runs under my deck that i backwash/drain into each time

City code here requires it be dumped into sewer - so at install time, backwash/bypass line gets plumed into sewer cleanout.

I backwash all over my front lawn. That's part of the reason I switched to cellulose. It's biodegradable. It really is--- leave it in the filter too long and it ends up all gooey and has to be blasted off the grids with a spray nozzle.

I let it go under my pool deck. Nothing grows under there anyway. It's screened in with lattace, so nobody can see under there. I only backflush 2, maybe 3 times a season - tops. (sometimes less) so it just sort of works into the ground over time.

Yep. It's a replacement for DE. I've had good results with it, but when the filter pressure rises, it rises real fast all the sudden. When I see it hit 125% of clean pressure, it means backwash NOW. Not next weekend when it's more convenient.

I bought an attachment that screws onto my output on the filter and a 50ft long blue backwash hose. It goes right over the hill.
