CYA in salt vs non-salt pools

The upper bound is really set based on practicality. . .if you get algae, a SLAM would become very costly.

How does protection of things like heat exchangers, impeller screws, and o-rings factor into it? The guidelines I learned when I started with pools was not to run FC higher than 5 to protect the heater and other components. Is that not actually a concern?

C,

Just pure Bull Stuff... Saltwater has no effect on any of those things.. What does, is really low pH which will eat a heater overnight. OK, maybe not overnight, but it does not take long.

As long as the FC is kept in the proper range with the CYA, there is just not any problem.

Thanks,

Jim R.
