CYA in cold water

Hello.. how accurate will CYA readings be in very cold pool water? I wanted to get a head start on things... so I've been getting the water pretty clear and trying to keep a safe amount of chlorine in the pool. Water is still very cold... last night's overnight low was 28. Anyway.. I put a fair amount of stabilizer in the pool last week... but my CYA didn't seem to be coming up. I thought maybe my testing regeants were bad... so I ordered a new kit from TFT kits. But.. CYA today is still almost 0. Would cold water affect the reading?

How did you add the CYA? I usually wait a couple of days after fully dissolved before I test, but of course my water doesn’t get nearly that cold.

You didn’t mention the actual water temp, did you? I would take the sample inside and let it warm up a bit, then test.
