Hello!

I am a new pool owner here in the hot AZ desert and have been doing my own maintenance with good results so far. We filled the 9000 gallon pool in early July and so far about 16 Tri-Chlor pucks and maybe 5-6 bags of the 13oz shock have been added. I took a sample to my local pool supply shop and they advised that the CYA level is at 100. Now I have read that their CYA readings can be off so I ordered my own test kit. While I wait, I’m wondering about how long should it take to get to the point where a pool my size would need to be (partially) drained and refilled? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum!
What test kit did you order?
Can you fill out your signature? Really helps us help you.

Once you get your test kit, run all the tests and post them here. If your CYA is near 100, follow:
100 is the limit of the CYA test, so you have to do a diluted test. Mix 50% pool water with 50% tap water. Use this mixed sample as your test water. Multiply the result by 2 for your CYA level.

I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.
