Cue to drain and refill?

What’s an appropriate cue for when it’s time to drain and refill my hot tub? I’m about 2 months into using dichlor/bleach (dichlor until about 50 CYA then bleach). Water is clear and never registered more than 0.5 CC, and even then it was the faintest pink so might be 0 CC.

Does the CC start creeping up eventually, or does chlorine demand increase or something else?

For me it is when the CC's start to increase and won't go down..

I usually wait for the CC level to get to 1.5 ppm or 4 or 5 months, it just depends on who has been in the tub...

I am the same as Jim - i start noticing persistent cc of 1 around the 5-6 month mark. It goes away with a shock but will be present when i test again a day later. I do notice a little more chlorine demand as well.
Now I just plan my purge/refills for every 6 months- one in March or April (either right before or after I open my pool) & one in oct or nov (right after i close my pool) this way i’m not busy with the pool really & the weather is such that i can usually do it on a nice Saturday instead of freezing my behind off in the dead of winter when using a water hose can be tricky.
