Cost to run pump for freeze protection

My comment was on the 1-5 am run time. At some point you are waking up to turn on or off the pump or do you only sleep 4 hours per night or perhaps you have a timer with auto freeze protection?

Neither.

I have a mechanical timer and set it to turn on at 1 and off at 5.

Last night we were only predicted to go to 36 so I didn't have it set.

Tonight, predicted to 36 so no need again. After that it would surprise me if the south side of Houston gets below 32 for the rest of "winter" as next week we are in the 60's.
