copper ionizer

I have problems with stains caused by iron bacteria. I have no problems with copper
There are types of bacteria called "Iron Bacteria", but chlorine quickly kills bacteria, so the bacteria are not the issue.

The problem is iron, which will always oxidize in a pool and cause staining.

You have to remove the iron or keep it sequestered with a sequestering or chelating agent.

As far as copper goes, our opinion is that copper should not be used for any purpose.

Yes, with ascorbic acid the stains disappear but then they always come back.

They told me it's an iron bacteria problem.
The problem has nothing to do with bacteria.

The iron stains are caused by iron.

In any case, adding copper will not solve anything; it will only result in more metal stains.

I have struggled with this problem for years. I had the water in my pool and the municipal network tested but there is iron in it. but unfortunately as soon as I add chlorine almost the entire pool cover gets stained.
Please post in English as most people here do not speak Italian.

The problem is iron in the water.

Unless you can remove the iron or drain and refill with iron free water, the iron will always cause stains.

Bacteria are not the issue because all bacteria and algae should be killed by chlorine.

Note: Do not drain unless you can verify that it is safe to do so.

If you have iron in your pool water, and it’s showing noticeable stains on your liner then you need to filter your pool water through a Polyfil Bucket. I can send you full instructions, materials, and before/during/after pics if you need guidance. This is my area of specialty 😊

what do you mean with drain unless?

@leron85 after some further reading on iron bacteria - you will likely need to SLAM your pool with liquid chlorine. Fair warning - it may cause discoloration to your pool water and may cause some staining due to the iron content in your pool. To combat this, you’ll want to also do the Poly-fil bucket at the same time as your SLAM.

Please post pics of your mechanicals/filtration/tubes so we can see how to get you set up for the bucket.

Thanks!
