Coping looks terrible

Question…. I noticed they got plaster over some of the glass step tiles, where you can’t see them…. Can I scrape it off with a wire brush? It looks like step tiles are missing but they’ve just been plastered over

I would start with something softer and work you way up if needed. My start would be a plastic scraper. Next would be a tiny flat screwdriver going a bit at a time to make sure it does not slip or chip the tiles.

A wire brush would damage the tile.

Why should you have to fix their mistake?

Tell them to fix it.

Totally agree but every request I have they keep telling me it’s not a big deal and dismissing it. At this point I will just do it myself! ☹️
No you will not settle for a $75k brand new SUV full of dents and scratches.

Some things you have to swallow. Maybe the blue is 2 hairs of a shade off from what you hoped. Maybe the gas milage isn't as great as the sticker said. But other than that, if the windshield is cracked you demand they fix it. Politely of course, but firm.

Thank you for the reassurance I will ask them, of course I would politely but no matter how firm I am I feel like they are very dismissive it’s frustrating !

I'm with ya. And doing the same at the moment. (Link in sig) I've had to delay the project several times for big issues. If the diving board is off center by 2 inches and I can't tell over the 20ft side, so be it.

When they dug the hole per generic internet plans, even against my telling them at the time, tough luck. You fix.

GC: but we will have to bring the machine back

Me: blank stare.

That cost me 2 weeks. When they showed up without enough material for the proper bench, eventhough it was well discussed with GC..... come back with the right amount of material to pour it. 2 more weeks. They forgot the bench on day 1 and it took 2 weeks to come back without enough concrete. 6 weeks gone for what should have been 3 days.

Etc etc etc etc etc. But I'm living with this pool forever, so some weeks mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Remain focused on the big picture. Stand tall and be firm.

You're right, thank you! I guess because we have been delayed so many times (PB took on more jobs and stopped showing up) and most things I mention are quickly dismissed - I'm just ready to be done. It's such a stress and time suck I don't think I will ever put in another pool! I will buy a house with one already in! Here are the photos of the step tile, the plaster looks great in the pool, except around the tiles, I know some will say - Oh you wont' notice....welp, for the price I have paid for the pool....I do notice!

I'm assuming you paid top dollar for top quality work ?

Or was it 75% off for the employee learning / being sloppy ?

😁

Let's put it this way. I may be homeless after this yard is finished. Homeless...with a pool! I'm in California and it's crazy expensive right now for pools/remodeling/etc.... It was EXTRA for the attention to detail :laughblue:

Only you can decide what you can live with. Me personally, I'm REAL easy going. Too much so, even. But if I paid a hefty premium for fancy pinstripes on a car, and they were sloppy with chunks missing, I'd be getting them redone.

+1. My original comments about the towels still stand. But I'm torn on principle because these workers get away with sloppy work *only* because everyone lets them.

Why should you suffer because everyone else let it go being too frustrated at the end of their build ?

But you'll never see it because towels.

Right?! I agree on all counts - I know I have let alot of things go, but it is hard to swallow when you it's such a large project. Now....just staring at it not able to get in for 2 weeks may be the worst wait of all!!!!! Even the dog is crying to get in! So....I just sit next to it, dip my legs in, drink my cocktail and hope my leg doesn't fall off from whatever chemicals were just dumped in!!!:laughblue:
