Converting this weekend - where to begin.

This is absurd..... I did a 50% water exchange and the CYA is still well over 100.
Im betting the sand is packed with stabilizer..
Only for a week or so and then it's fully dissolved.

When we moved the new pool had been shocked and tabbed so many times it took 5(?) Rounds of borax to bring the PH back to a readable range. The CYA was in the 300s.

You can know if the water exchange actually did 50% by checking the other levels such as the CH but you'd need to run a test on the tap water used to see what you're starting off with.
Tap water was 0 for CYA
As for CH test - I put 125 drops in and it barely changed to a slight blue color - so 3125 for CH?

In the pool water. CYA levels that get out of control are often higher than originally anticipated since evaporation doesn't lower it.
The weather here has been horrible. It has rained heavily for several days in a row. Last night, it quit raining so I turned the light on in the pool to see how clear the water was.
It was very clear, but you could see something suspended in the water. it looked like tiny air bubbles, but it wasn't air. Im guessing it was that algicide / copper stuff the previous guy added?
The particles are big enough for the basket of my pentair prowler 917 robot to catch. I have to clean the basket of it every day b/c whatever that stuff is, clogs the filter/basket. Surely what he's calling algicide isnt CYA? If so, he must have dumped it straight in the water in massive levels....
