Continuation of an odyssey

You can add it later and save yourself some money. Adding at the pad is probably best as you can swap it out if it were to ever get damaged.... something you can't necessarily do if you have the one installed in the deck. You could install over the 'winter', no need to wait until you get around to installing a SWG. You don't have to use the Paramount one either - there are others available. They all function about the same.

I tend to agree with all of that. Being in AZ, I probably won't have the biomass (leaves, grass [what's grass?] etc.) in it that I would have had if I built it back in Iowa, either. Neighbors trees and my wife's bougainvillea are about it until we do more landscaping and then all the stinking blowing dirt around here. After looking at the basket on the Hayward pump on line (and the same sort of accessories exist for it that do the Paramount units, just a lot smaller physically), I could certainly try it without and if it becomes annoying, like you said, I can get any manufacturers unit at the pad basket and install it literally in minutes.

My wife of course immediately texted the PB even though I told her to hold off until tomorrow, but I think I will tell them, never mind... I'll try it without for a few months.

Bougainvillea - pretty to look at - not so much fun to trim and clean up after. They are one of the (few) plants we agreed NOT to have in the yard. Of course, all my neighbors bracts tend to end up in my pool.

I agree with you, see how it does without. It's an easy add if you decide you need one.

So at this point it looks as though gunite will probably be done on Friday, 8/9. Tile if I read it correctly too.

I think they want us done and gone, to be honest. Some more polite comments to that effect to the wife were made tonight. They wouldn't be as polite to me.

Who knows, maybe they are reading the bad cop? ... Hello if so!

Something about checking the dampness of the hole at 4:30 AM and then if they go it would be early or mid morning. They apparently have one other to do. As is the case for the last 6 weeks I am hoping the monsoon holds off.

The only hold up apparently for completion is the pavers are on backorder, but are supposedly due in on Friday. But "there are a couple of jobs ahead of us".

This is sorta like going to college. You eventually run out of classes to take, then they give you a sheet of paper and you are done. Okay, then the real job starts, right?

We are going to be the early appointment, so apparently they will start at 6:30 AM tomorrow, good because I still have to go into work for at least a few hours tomorrow. I'll try to take some pictures and time lapse video again. Tile will be done soon as for some reason they want to do it as close to the gunite as possible.. maybe even on Saturday... we will see. At least it will start to look like a pool tomorrow...

I'm surprised they are possibly wanting to do tile so soon. Most of the time, PB wants gunite shell to cure before doing any interior tile work.

Let's see if @bdavis466 has any input on that.

That is pretty much the opposite of what they told me with the tile, but honestly even after 48 hours concrete is pretty strong. I doubt if it would be before Monday anyway.

By "pool" standards we are getting "shotcrete" - - - premix is coming in wet.

We are lucky in that we are working we a light drizzle today and high humidity which is about the best environment for early stage concrete... In Arizona. I guess I worried for nothing with the monsoons.

Here are a couple of pictures so far. I will pick out better ones later on an actual computer... IMG_20190809_095914919_HDR.jpgIMG_20190809_085954800.jpgIMG_20190809_100113227_HDR.jpgIMG_20190809_090557062.jpgIMG_20190809_082450335_HDR.jpgIMG_20190809_103950595.jpg

Here are a couple more. I still need to go to work today, so I will sort through later and put a couple more "awesome" ones up tonight, but here are a few more. Normally, now would be where I would obsess about keeping it wet, but it's awfully humid here. Like Midwestern humid. We are still going to water the shotcrete but at least I won't obsess about it. It's amazing that they can get it done in four hours. The parts that washed away are going to be "very strong" according to the owner of the shotcrete subcontractor.. As they had no choice but to add rebar and concrete. So I will have the strongest lagoon, ledge and steps in the neighborhood.

The delay in me posting was because they delayed two hours to see what the weather would do. IMG_20190809_114401932.jpgIMG_20190809_113553551.jpgIMG_20190809_114258071.jpg

Yikes, your neighbor has a small yard.
Arizona, eh? All the land in the world, but not for us private citizen types... Trust me, my 0.21 acre lot is a BIG lot for Tucson and I never would have considered anything smaller. It's not like any of those houses are inexpensive.... 0.21 acres would be on the small size in the Midwest...

Pinata man was MAKING that ledge. Trust me, I used to make fun of their hats and boots before I lived here for awhile. The boots protect you from rattlesnakes (including the legendary Mohave)... and the hats? The nuclear summer UV sunshine here.... The freaking cowboys know the outfit is ridiculous. They DON'T CARE!
