10:AM FC 24 - Brushed / Vac / Cleaned filter (mostly sand in the filter) Clarity seems to be improving, I can make out the floor drain even after brushing . The water color seems to be shifting toward a blue (but maybe that is optimism)
Just a suggestion but you might want to use PhotoBucket to share pictures. I'm not seeing any of the attached pictures. TFP's attachment space is very limited. Photo bucket works a lot better.

FC still dropping about 4-5 ppm every 12 hrs. Conntinuing to brush & vac. filter cleaning is reducing & clarity is improving, I can see the drain even after brushing.
Seeing very little CC, maybe .5. The color change is extremely slight for that test.
I failed to pull the light and clean behind that & the water is a little chilly to go diving so I will have wait that one out & hope for the best. All of my ladder connectons are on deck. Everything below the water line is plaster except the light & plumbing. I have been giving extra scrubbing attention to the steps and the tile line.
I am finally getting optimistic.... I had no idea that the previous owner left the pool in such bad shape. Based on the amount of plaster granules I have filtered out I can assume that pool has not been aggressively brushed in several years. I have never owned a pool before & I was naive in assuming because he had a 'contract with the pool store' that everything was fine. Live & learn, die & forget it all.
Not sure how chilly your water is, or how far down your lights are... I can lay on the deck and unscrew the light housing from there. Maybe you could try the same. Then a brand-new toilet brush to at least get the worst of it out until it gets warmer? My lights love to grow algae!
Ordered a barracuda G3 over the weekend. Wife got it assembled and installed late this morning. Has had to clean the filter 3 times since. Mostly plaster sand. Looks like this thing will help me get this stuff out of the water.
My wife reports that the frequent filter plugging continues now that the Barracuda is running constantly. It appears that I was stirring the stuff up when I brushed only to have it settle back to the bottom. I brushed as much as possible toward the drain but apparently was not very effective. I definitely had a lot more sandy debris in the pool than originally thought . She is keeping up with the brushing and the FC levels. Hopefully we will be much closer to clear water when I get back this weekend.
The pictures show what a good job you are doing! It will take time BUT it is time well spent! Once you get it clear you will not believe how easy and cheap it is using TFP!
