Clean and clear RP 200 Suction Relief Valve

I just bought a new clean and clear rp 200 filter. I was taking it out of the box and noticed a small, fingernail size piece near the suction relief valve. It's not exactly clear how it would fit back on to it, so I'm not sure if this is something sort of injection molding scud or something something that actually broke off

Does it look functional? To me, it should still work.

That valve is chipped. Will the valve seal and the filter hold pressure with that chip?

I haven't installed it yet.

I can't seem to find a good picture of what it's supposed to look like. I'm guessing that there is a particular orifice size it's supposed to have?

I bought it online, so I'm really trying to avoid the hassle of sending it back. I suppose I can try and see if the bypass flow is to big to hold pressure.

I wonder if I can use a small amount of epoxy to make the hole smaller?
